Top 10 weird things that happen in North Korea home of Kim Jong Un Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg Other Videos You Might Like The Most Beautiful Places In The World https://youtu.be/SbeHjcLOkgs Strange Things That Only Happen In Russia https://youtu.be/ru0lO3MJfl0 Description: North Korea is ruled by an oppressive and often violent communist regime. The region is best known for countless human rights violations, a brutal response to any dissidents of the reigning Kim Jong-un-led government, extremely restrictive conditions and a dramatic disparity between the wealthy elite class and the impoverished majority of citizens. This identity lives on through those who were able to successfully evacuate the country and through international experts, most of whom have limited access thanks to a rigid foreign policy that allows these atrocities to continue through their relative isolation. Yet, many people view North Korea as a strange, perplexing and often ludicrous curiosity, reacting to the mysterious dictatorship more with bemusement than outrage. And surely enough, the comic material is plentiful. The deluded Jong-un is an unknown entity with an oddball haircut and his deceased father Kim Jong-Il was an embellishment-prone narcissist, having been known to claim he was a world-class golfer and a global fashion icon. Through its dictatorial regime, the country has set overbearing and often hypocritical rules to lord over its citizens, typically enforced in a harsh, aggressive manner. Fascination and amusement at the expense of what is known as the Hermit State has even extended into pop culture. 30 Rock satirized Jong-Il’s penchant for exaggerating – or outright making up - his own achievements and the ‘truths’ of the country’s state-run media. The Interview depicted Seth Rogen and James Franco embarking upon a mission to assassinate Jong-un but never reached theaters partially in response to alleged threats by North Korea. The weirdness reached new heights when NBA star and noted eccentric Dennis Rodman formed a friendship with Jong-un and even paid a few visits to the difficult-to-access nation. Indeed, separating fact from fiction in North Korea is not easy to do. The shrouded-in-mystery state offers plenty of misinformation through its state-run media and allows for precious few outsiders to provide an unbiased perspective, thanks to an effort by the isolated country’s leaders to block information from entering or exiting the country. Instead, we are left with unsubstantiated but oft-repeated rumors, like Jong-un feeding his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, to 120 starving dogs. Thus, any examination of North Korea can only be facilitated through piecing together various bits of factual information that emerge occasionally from the country. Reports from international human rights organizations like the United Nations, infrequent accounts from international news outlets and a scattering of stories from those who have successfully left the country have helped form a rough idea of how the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) operates. It is through these narratives and perspectives that a basic understanding of North Korea is formed. With that in mind, let’s take a glimpse inside this confounding place and examine some of the craziest-but-true facts about it. (24 Mar 2005) SHOTLIST 1. SOUNDBITE: (English) Bobby Fischer, former world chess champion: Q: "How does it feel to be free?" "Great, great." 2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Bobby Fischer, former world chess champion: "Totally illegal. This was not an arrest, it was a kidnapping, because the charges that the Japanese charged me with are total nonsense. They said I illegal entered Japan on April 15 with an invalid passport. It's nonsense. My passport was perfectly good. They have never explained what they are talking about. They gave me a letter from the US Embassy in the Pillippines with no signature, no address, no envelop, no receipt, nothing. This is what the case is all about. A letter with no signature, a photocopy of a letter. There is no case. It's total nonsense. This was a kidnapping. Totally illegal from day one. Bush does not respect law. He just calls people a ..... enemy combatant. It's like in the comics, you know. Like Billy Batson used to say 'Shazam' and he becomes Captain Marvel. He just says enemy combatant, now you have no legal rights. It's a farce. It's the same with this kidnapping. Absolutely no legality to it. It's just my misfortune that this idiot Koizumi, this bastard, is like a close friend of Bush and he's willing to do anything that Bush tells him." Q: "You were saying you thought the government of Japan is kind of corrupt or....." "Yes, yes, Koizumi in particular. This man is mentally ill, there's no question he's mentally ill in my opinion. He told Bush, 'I want you, I need you, I love you'. This is in the newspapers, the Japanese papers. I've never heard of a politician prostrating himself like this before another politician, openly. Normally when you are a stooge like Koizumi you will try to hide it, right. But this guy is openly a stooge. He's sick, he's a sick bastard. This was absolutely cooked up between Bush and Koizumi, no question about that. Behind Bush were the Jews, telling him what to do, then Bush was telling telling Koizumi what to do." 3. SOUNDBITE: (English) Bobby Fischer, former world chess champion: "First of all the United States is an illegitimate country, just like Israel, it has no right to exist. That country, the United States, belongs to the Red Man, the American Indian." STORYLINE Chess legend Bobby Fischer said on Thursday that freedom felt "great" after nine months' detention in Japan, where he had been held by authorities for trying to leave the country using an invalid US passport. Fischer, released from Japanese custody earlier on Thursday, stopped over in Denmark before he was to catch a flight to his new home, Iceland, which has granted him citizenship. On the flight from Tokyo to Copenhagen, Fischer accused Japanese officials of "kidnapping" him by taking him into custody in July. "This was a kidnapping because the charges that the Japanese charged me with are totally nonsense," he told Associated Press Television News on the flight. "My passport was perfectly good," the eccentric genius insisted. Asked what it will be like to be free, he replied: "Great, great." Fischer was the first passenger to emerge from the Tokyo-Copenhagen flight. Police officers ushered him and his fiancee, Miyoko Watai, down a staircase and into an unmarked van. They were set to board another flight to the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, in the evening. 62-year-old Fischer claims his US passport was revoked illegally and sued to block a deportation order to the United States, where he is wanted for violating sanctions imposed on the former Yugoslavia by playing an exhibition match against Russian Boris Spassky in 1992. Fischer called Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi a "bastard who does anything that Bush tells him to do." "Koizumi is mentally ill in my opinion," he said. This video has been claimed falsely by WMG several times, and I am arguing with Youtube about it's content, but here is a transcript also: "There's a reason education SUCKS, and it's the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It's never going to get any better, don't look for it, be happy with what you've got. Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the REAL owners, now. The REAL owners, the BIG WEALTHY business interests that control things and make all the important decisions -- forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. YOU DON'T. You have no choice. You have OWNERS. They OWN YOU. They own EVERYTHING. They own all the important land, they own and control the corporations; they've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the State houses, the City Halls; they've got the judges in their back pockets, and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all the news and information you get to hear. They gotcha by the BALLS. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying -- lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want -- they want MORE for themselves and less for everybody else. But I'll tell you what they don't want. They DON'T want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that, that doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right. They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're getting FUCKED by system that threw them overboard 30 fuckin' years ago. They don't want that. You know what they want? They want OBEDIENT WORKERS. OBEDIENT WORKERS. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passably accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they're comin' for your SOCIAL SECURITY MONEY. They want your fuckin' retirement money. They want it BACK. So they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it ALL from you sooner or later -- 'cuz they OWN this fuckin' place. It's a big CLUB. And YOU AIN'T IN IT. You and I are NOT IN the big club. By the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long, beating you over the in their media telling you what to believe -- what to think -- and what to buy. The table is tilted, folks. The game is rigged. And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-workin people -- white collar, blue collar -- doesn't matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-workin people CONTINUE -- these are people of modest means -- continue to elect these RICH COCKSUCKERS who don't GIVE a fuck about them. They don't give a fuck about you, they don't GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU. T HEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU -- AT ALL. AT ALL. AT ALL. You know? And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care ... that's what the owners count on, the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes every day. Because the owners of this country know the truth -- it's called the American Dream ... 'cuz you have to be asleep to believe it." George Carlin's Final Words To The World... David Allen Green, legal correspondent, New Statesman; writer of acclaimed Jack of Kent blog Alex Deane, head of public affairs, Weber Shandwick; Common Councilman, City of London; founding director, Big Brother Watch; David Cameron's first Chief of Staff John Fitzpatrick, professor of law and director, Kent Law Clinic, University of Kent, Canterbury Wendy Kaminer, US-based writer on law, liberty, feminism, religion, and popular culture; author, Worst Instincts: cowardice, conformity and the ACLU Chair: Luke Gittos, trainee barrister; convenor, London Legal Salon It has become a maxim of Western society that citizens should be equal before the law. A legal system that discriminates against minorities is widely recognised as a symptom of an unjust society. But does this mean the law should be used to make society itself more equal? Since the Equality Act 2010 has been on the statute books, a number of cases have shown how the law is being used to challenge and punish discriminatory attitudes, in the name of greater equality and the celebration of diversity. Some have welcomed this as a move towards a more just society, while others condemn it as illegitimate 'judicial activism'. Take, for example, the Christian couple who were successfully sued in 2011 by two gay men to whom they had refused a room in their bed & breakfast. While many saw this as a victory for tolerance, some argued that the act had limited the rights of the Christian couple to choose with whom to mix or not. Since then, Christian lobby groups have argued that the provisions of the act should apply equally to protect Christians from prejudice. Apart from the fact that it may be impossible to legislate to protect everyone in society from prejudice, another more fundamental question arises: is it dangerous to use the law to change people's minds? Historically, changes in the law have always codified and reflected attitudes in wider society. However, rather than simply back-up prevailing beliefs, should the law start 'taking the lead'? Racial desegregation in the US in the 1950s and 1960s certainly involved legal coercion, but it was also driven by a mass movement for equality. In the case of something like equal recognition for gay marriage in the US and UK, or proposals that corporate boards should contain a certain proportion of women, it remains unclear whether legal moves are 'with the tide of history' or merely promoting an eccentric, elite agenda. If the law is allowed to intrude into private decisions about whom we employ, for example, or with whom we associate or do business, we are denied the right to make these decisions independently. Is this justified in the name of equality? Or is a society in which people only decide to treat others equally because the law tells them to really an equal society at all?

Download the .mp3 version of this course right here: http://bit.ly/2aWgTu1 Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) is increasingly acknowledged as one of the most influential thinkers on women's rights and also as an incisive and observant writer on politics, education, and social issues. Although not consistently libertarian, she was consistently in favor of equal legal rights for men and women, and she operated within a generally classical liberal framework. The audiocassette presents an account of her life as a radical individualist writer as well as discussion of her arguments for equality before the law. In her writings she engaged some of the central issues in political philosophy, notably the debate over whether it was preferable to defend historically situated ("prescriptive") rights or universal ("abstract") rights. Burke had defended prescriptive rights but was highly critical of abstract statements of rights and therefore was wary about the application of rights theory to other candidates for rights (for example, women). Among Wollstonecraft's more interesting observations is that the characters of subservient wives and of subservient soldiers are similar: both are taught to please and both live only to please. As belief in a "divine right of kings" perverts the character of kings, so, Wollstonecraft argued, belief in the "divine right of husbands" perverts the character of husbands. The readings by Wollstonecraft and by the sisters Sarah and Angelina Grimké in this module focus on the relationship between rights and responsibilities. One cannot reasonably expect a person to act responsibly if one does not accord to that person both the right and the responsibility of self-governance. This module treats the issues of equal rights, especially with reference to women and to the flourishing of individuality and pluralism in a free society. The grounding of the libertarian view in individual rights, rather than in collective claims, provides important insights into the contemporary debate on "multiculturalism." Readings to Accompany The Audio From The Libertarian Reader: Alexis de Tocqueville, "What Sort of Despotism Democratic Nations Have to Fear" (pp. 20-24); John Stuart Mill, "Objections to Government Interference" (pp. 25-27), "Of Individuality" (pp. 96-103); Mary Wollstonecraft, "The Subjugation of Women" (pp. 62-64); Angelina Grimké, "Rights and Responsibilities of Women" (pp. 92-93); Sarah Grimké, "Woman as a Moral Being" (pp. 94-95); Milton Friedman, "The Relation between Economic Freedom and Political Freedom" (pp. 292-302). Some Problems to Ponder & Discuss • What is the relationship between responsibility for one's behavior and the right and freedom to direct that behavior? • Do equal legal rights for men and women entail equality in all other respects? • If an act such as excessive alcohol drinking is harmful to the person who undertakes it, or to others in his or her life (such as a spouse or children), in what sense is the act "victimless"? • Is it contrary to individualist principles for some people (whether a majority or a minority) to criticize the behavior or choices of others, if they refrain from resorting to force or legal coercion?

Professor Tasioulas discusses the notion of the ‘minimum core obligations’ associated with economic, social and cultural human rights, such as the rights to education and health. The idea of minimum core obligations, which is a nascent doctrine in international human rights law, is heavily contested both as to its meaning and utility. John Tasioulas is Visiting Professor of Law and the Charles J. Merriam Scholar at the University of Chicago Law School; Yeoh Professor of Politics, Philosophy, and Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London; and Director of the Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre for Politics, Philosophy, and Law. Presented by the International Human Rights Clinics and the Human Rights Law Society on May 5, 2016.
